December tends to be a time for excess and indulging as the festive season is upon us. It also means healthy eating habits and exercise regimes can fall to the wayside. Since it is the season to be merry, we would like to share a few tips on how to stay fit and healthy without missing out on the festive fun.
Think about what you eat and drink With so much food and drink at your fingertips, it can be tempting to overindulge. As such, a little mindfulness can go a long way. Be aware of your body, and if you feel full or bloated, stop eating or drinking. This is your body’s way of telling you to take a step back. Make sure you get a good, healthy breakfast Breakfast kickstarts your metabolism and helps you burn calories throughout the day. It also gives you the energy you need to get things done and helps to maintain your focus. Take a walk It might be challenging to keep up with your regular workouts, especially if you have friends or family visiting. But that doesn’t mean you should stop moving altogether! Something as simple as going for a walk will help to keep your heart healthy and burn a few extra calories, not to mention the benefits of fresh, winter air. Drink plenty of water Drinking plenty of water can help to keep your metabolism moving. And with the alcohol flowing and late-night gatherings, keeping hydrated is essential for staying awake and alert to enjoy all the fun during the day. Enjoy yourself Give yourself permission to indulge a little more over the holidays. Healthy living is all about moderation, not deprivation. Make sure you take the time to enjoy yourself during the holidays and embrace the time you have with family and friends. Remember that we’re here for you! We will be running a full fitness class schedule for the month of December with studio closures only on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Our Modified Holiday Schedule will run on Christmas Eve with STRONG by Zumba from 9:00 to 9:45 am and on New Year’s Eve with Tabata from 10:00 to 10:45 am. And if you need help dialing in your nutrition, you can always make an appointment with our Certified Precision Nutritionist. |
